I have been a donor since 2006 and donated about $1000+ through 3 or 5 one time payments and monthly subscription of $20.
But I discontinued my monthly subscription seeing absence of IV core for long time in 2008. But more than that I was completely pissed off with free riders with one time questions and then disappearing, nanny questions, people sharing jokes on this forum, people commenting on the internal matters of their own country and so on. I felt the forum was being used for all other matters except the one issue it was formed to address: "RETROGRESSION in EB IMMIGRATION".
I am fully supportive of paid membership and welcome this step. I thank IV admin for the same.
Now my questions are
What is the vision / mission/ purpose behind the "donor forum"?
whether members will still be able to post questions for free and get answers? And of course vanish after that.
Would the anti immigrants still be able to use our forum and make posts to tease us?
And most importantly do I have start monthly subscription again to gain access to this forum? If yes, Can I just restart my $20 monthly subscription?

VPARAM, can you pls tell me the procedure/process of opening a company? You can PM me if you want pls.
i think I have stated it earlier...
for handsfree , you could either do it through accountant or legalzoom.com once you set up the company, you need to get your Federal tax id for the company, then file for any local city business license ( few cities have that requirement), Open a bank account...
Please PM me if you still have questions... In this thread I had posted my reply and also given the accountant details , who helped me...

I was dealing with GMAC Bank, But I know friends who used Wells Fargo & BAC with the status of AOS pending.
these People generally get nervous when they see a pending status, Approved I-140 will definitely help.

I re-read the section and I think your interpretation is correct. All I-140 filed after introduction and approved before enactment should stand clear from this provision. If there is an I-485 petition filed along with such an I-140 that is approved before enactment of this act, then it will qualify for an immigrant visa whenever one is available under the old law.
Again one needs to run this interpretation through a lawyer to be absolutely sure.
Hmm so I was quite worried about good old Section 502(d)(2) at first, but after re reading carefully, this may not be terrible. I (and others?) might have pressed the panic button a little too quickly.
As I read it now (and I am NOT a lawyer), any I-140 petition adjudicated after the effective date of this legislation (Oct 2008 seems to be the popular opinion) will be rejected if the I-140 petition has a filing date after May 15th 2007. If this *only* applies to adjudication of I-140s and NOT to I-485s, this means that you would have to have filed your I-140 after May 15th and have it still pending by Oct 2008 .... 14 months for folks filing in the near future. This is quite unlikely, as it takes only a month or so for premium processing, and around 6 months for non-premium.
Folks might get into trouble if they have a labor certification stuck in the BEC and it doesn't get approved for another 12 months or so...

IRS faq clearly states that everyone on the tax return should have ssn. Even if one has ITIN no one will get the extra refund. Please read IRS faqs

The stimulus package is $600 for each member who has an SSN. Therefore if both you and your wife had an SSN you would get $1200. In the case where one spouse has an ITIN, the remaining spouse still is eligible for the $600. As mentioned in this post earlier you can always file 1040X one you receive the SSN for your spouse and claim the additional $600.

I am happy for following things in life:
1) I still have a job, or atleast pay.
2) I have an EAD, those in PERM, 140, do not have that option.
3) I am better placed than those seeking immigration as brothers and sisters of US citizens :-d or as married children of US citizens.
I am not happy about:
1) Don't have the plastic that says, I can stay on even if I don't have a job.
2) Those from other countries getting "lottery" visa instead of hard work.
Who said "hard work" pays off? It just takes LUCK in life for things to fall in place. From tomorrow, I am just going to buy lottery and do NO work.

can we put up forum threads here for state chapters or some kind of direct link or page for each individual state chapter
Doing state chapters through list servs is just not working out.
In my opinion
(1) Community must unite
(2) People must come out of anonymity by providing true information
(3) People must walk the talk - just not open threads and keep discussing
(4) Efforts must be well organized - IV is a great organization - we have state chapters where people can organize themselves - helps us all to do things more effectively
The biggest issue is - everyone come here and open threads but it alll stops there - people join state chapters but do nothing - just want to get updates - and always blame IV for whatever happens and question IV and want to grill IV as to what IV is doing.
Can we all get organized?
Sanjeev - I am sorry I am digressing from the original plan of this thread - but lets face reality - what is the use of all these tangential efforts - you may get hundreds of replies on this thread - but is there a proper directive? No one knows what to do it all starts and ends in discussion and waste of valuble time doing nothing.
I would rather recommend
(1) Lets get organized
(2) Give out proper information
(3) Pledge wholehearted support
(4) Be committed
(5) Join a state chapter
(6) Expand the community
(7) Work hard
(8) gather support
(9) take initiatives to lead - support will follow
(10) Do not waste time on unnecessary predictions, discussing waste, roumors etc...
(11) Understand the effort - lobbying - understand that IV needs a lot of money for lobbying - please contribute - please raise funds
