It's hard to believe that folks dont know anything about the Green-Card process when they come in. Let us say that you are right on, but they would have eventually figured it out by the end of couple years. I believe it is the situations like layoffs, move from one company to other for better prospects and salary will make them to enter the process late. It is their personal choice and I don't question that. But I believe they had options to apply for GC early in the process and they did not. So why penalize others who did before them. Please don't think Iam saying this because I entered late. I came during early 1998 and I did wait for 4 years to apply.
Many of the H1B's are so involved in their work , they really donot follow their green card procedure and pressure their employers for better deal on filing their papers even when they have the chance.
New H1B's coming into the country should be given some guidance on the permanent residency process so that they donot end up like many of us in the forum waiting for years to get their residency.

Completely Agree with you. Rather have some process than none.People in the forum are talking a lot about visa recapture..
But how will this help if USCIS continues to disregard PDs utterly and just approve cases that they can lay their hands on....
Due to July 2 fiasco, pretty much everyone have filed I-485...Even those with 2007 PDs.
Say USCIS recaptures Visas, makes every category current and starts approving 2007 PD cases! Even worst, due to the every category 'C', may be 2008, 2009 (when it arrives) people start applying I-485 as well, and USCIS continues to consume all the visa numbers to to approve the cases of these lucky bas*$%^&ds (no offence!) with most recent PDs. How does this help you or me with older PDs waitin for years and years ! :(

Your idea is good to but please be also open to other ideas. You don't know what will fail or pass. The prime objective is to attract media attention, in other words "give them something to talk about". What flower campaing did last year was exactly that...Can we achieve the same thing with Book or Calculators or Clock or Poster, we need to figure that out!
How about each one of us does whatever is suitable with common theme being similar letter/concern etc. If we choose clock/cal etc. shortly we will run out them at sites such as amazon, etc. Anyway only some of us will be able to do it...But flowers, letters, fliers are limitless and everyone can send...
So my suggestion is --draft a common themed letter and send the letter along with whatever anyone chooses to send along (with clock, cal, flier or simply letter. But please make sure the fliers are not offensive)...

I personally think backwards running clock is the best thing to send...It hits nail on the head...The PDs are moving backward instead of forward...It is also a funny story for news media to pick up...Mass letters are also ok...
Regarding the fliers suggested by someone, I feel that calling them lazy would not help (Even though I agree that they do deserve to some extent). But on the otherhand they might take offense to that, since the IOs can say that at times, they work weekends and that they just follow what they are directed to do by the higherups...

How about contacting Bloomberg Radio? I heard about IV first on it in 2006.

desi - I am not sure how we do that but I personally think if we ask such a thing we are letting USCIS send us denial notice even though they must not send it.
I absolutely agree with you that in first place, CIS MUST NOT revoke 485 when a person changes to similar job after 485 is pending for more than 180 days and 140 has been already approved.
IV is already running the campaign to send letters (I did send mine) and hopefully it will get us good results.
However, we should still know what happens to EAD in such unfortunate event. Many AOS candidate, specifically from retrogressed countries may have gone beyond 6 years of H1B and may not get H1B extended based on this pending 485. or many must be working on EAD as many employers are not willing to sponsor the H1B. When I applied for her driver�s license, the DMV officer told me that they need to verify the name change with immigration. How do I inform immigration of the name change? You are saying that authorities will take retaliatory measures for saying something that really bad happened. Then dont even talk about lawsuit etc... Do you think a lawsuit aginst USCIS/DOS is going to please them very much ???
Take either Boat1 or Boat2 -- Please do not sail keeping your foot in two boats. I apologize if i sound aggressive but it is what it is. Doing a work
in weekend of 48 hours (consuming 25000 visas) which takes even more
than 48 days definitely involves bypassing CRITICAL checks !!

What the hell on earth is this? Do you know for sure they have ignored it? Do not add masala to the existing crap. Do you understand the consequences of these kind of spiced up stuff? We all would be sulking in the security check for ever, if DHS gets pissed off or gets a congressional hearing and the authorities get lambasted over this. You are seeing how doctors are being implicated in UK and all over. Security is the most important thing right now on this planet and western world is agog over security. I dont know from where Greg Siskind and Jay Solomon got the tip off. They tipped each of their hats off and put the story in our brains to run the show. Security is not a Joke. Do not make it a bigger issue unless you dont know whether it really has happened. The consequences can be pretty dangerous to the extent of revoking all the issued GC's in the past 20 days, if congress gets high on this. I dont know what lawyers want, but my understanding is none of us want to have negative consequences of this issue.

"The root cause of the situation is the inability of
a) DOS/USCIS to recapture the visa numbers from previous years
b) to carry forward the unused numbers for atleast one year

Its our choice to make USCIS/DOS our enemies or we get compassionate to the situation considering how arcane the current laws are. We agree or not, we have to work with them going forward. I dont get it for EB3 India. First they said once we get over the APR 01 hump we should be move quicker. Well guess what we DID get over that hump. Why the heck arent the dates moving at all for us?
this is surprising. really the dates should move- at least some. i keep thinking with each bulletin that EB3 will surely move now but it just has not happened. at this moment of course they have simply made it U. i wonder though if the dates will move when the october quota comes in.

It means they have used 90K Visa out of 140-150K ..it means 50K visa left for next 5 month..not sure how much visa dates wlll be moved.
Let me help you here: the USCIS receive 2.5 million applications in july and august 2007 ('The surge'). For most of the ones who applied, I don't think we will see the dates move much in the near future... But I don't know so, keep the faith. Miracles are still possible

First of all I am really sorry for all this happening to you. Unfortunately, this is happening more and more since the anti-dowry laws have been made which are so ridiculous. Females get the credit of being innocence from our society even if they are not. All they need to do is be 1. somewhat beautiful, 2. sob in society and 3. be young and everybody on the earth thinks that they are "poor , innocent girl" ..even if they are perfect culprits.
