From Public Policy Polling: Our poll of the Texas Governor's race this week is another data point indicating possible backlash for Republican candidates this fall in the wake of the Arizona immigration law. When we polled the race in Februrary Rick Perry led Bill White by 6 points. The race is tied now, and the movement since the previous poll has come completely with Hispanic voters. Hi all,
I need an urgent advice. on April 4th I started a new job in a good size company (200+ employers). 2 week before starting the job, I had sent the company all the information required to transfer the visa (paystubs, etc etc) and they confirmed that everything was fine.
Last week (Apr 27th) I have been asked by the Payroll company to provide copy of the I-797 to attach to the I-9. I contacted the company's immigration lawyer and he stated that they filed the transfer on Apr, 26th (3 weeks after i started working for them) and he should have the receipt shortly. This caught me off guard because I was sure they already filed the application before I started working for them. I am really concerned now as I believe I am out of status (or I have been for 3 weeks).
Should I be worried? what's your take on this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know if people would be interested in discussing the implications of all EB categories turning current. Some of the points to discuss would be:
1) Processing times for I-485
2) Effects on future GC applications.

Hi Guys,
A friend of mine from India is getting married to a US citizen here. She is coming here on a Fiancee visa (i believe K or V one of them). Does anyone know how long it takes to get a Green Card if you marry a Citizen?
Any help will be appreciated.
I think it is within 6 months. Check the USCIS website for the I130 petition time frame (CSC).

Though CIS has your correct address, non-delivery could be due to a typo in the address, and the USPS sorting system was not able to sort this particular letter.

Bush is visiting Csico, San Jose. There is a huge EB community in Cisco afftected by retro. I talked to my friend there and he said guys were planning to ask one question about this to Bush. Apparently ther was lot of activity around this . Any update guys ? Any one from Cisco pls respond

I work for company A in india which has a subsidary company "B" in US.
On "B"'s request i worked in US for company B from July 2006 to Nov 2006 (for which i have valid pay checks).
I went back to India and worked for A till June and i came to US again to work for Company B.
Now as soon as i entered US, i have applied for a premium H1 company transfer to Company C.
Now i got a query to submit my Pay checks which i do not have as i resigned Company B after coming to US.
Please suggest me whats the ideal way to answer this query...

If you go to the USCIS website (www.uscis.gov) you can download the EAD application and the list of documents that you are required to submit. My understanding is that the location where you file your EAD is dependent on the State where you live. The EAd application instructions include information on where to file depending on the State where you live.

Hi,
I have a valid Visa from Employer A till May 2012. I moved to a new Employer B in Feb 2010 and my H1B was approved till Jan 2013.
I am planning to Visit India in June 2010. Can i come back to US, New Jersey with my Old Employer Visa and New Employer I797.

I helping my employer filling the I-129 B-1B Data collection supplement form. In Part C Question 8 Item 4:
Is this the second or subsequent request for an extension of stay that you have filed for this alien?
This application is an extension (for 3 years) for my H1-B. My position in the company is the same as that when applied for my previous (first) H1-B petition.
I have NOT applied for green card/labor certification.
Is the answer Yes or No for this question?
