Yet Senate candidates are still trudging down to the Senate Office of Public Records with paper copies of their reports, which are then passed along to the Federal Election Commission, which sends them to a vendor that punches in the information and zaps it back to the FEC electronically. That finally makes them widely available, sometimes too late for voters to see who's donating to whom and how the money is being spent. With this seeming fear of modernity, it's a wonder the Senate isn't calculating budgets with an abacus. Or is it a fear of disclosure?

The hold unleashed a torrent of activity on the Internet, as bloggers tried to flush out the identity of the senator responsible for the hold. But after an onslaught of phone calls to Senate offices, the bloggers have no answer. No one owned up to being the culprit.
Yesterday, the bill's sponsor tried again. And again, the Republican floor leader objected. A spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he is sure the name of the secret senator is known "in the cloakroom," but he said that misses the point.
"A hold can't stop something from coming to the floor," Don Stewart said. "It can only stop it from being pushed through without a full and open debate on the bill."
That's true -- sponsors had been trying to pass the bill by unanimous consent, which does not permit amendment or debate. But Feingold told the liberal blog Daily Kos that the path was typical for a bill with 35 bipartisan co-sponsors that did not elicit a single objection in committee.
Writing on the blog yesterday, Feingold said: "The fact is that someone anonymously blocked the bill, . . . that person has made no effort to resolve his or her concerns with us, and the Republican leadership won't even tell us who that person is."

The case status message for mine and my wife's EAD changed to Card production ordered. It did not change to Approval notice sent. I received the EAD cards within 1 week of the Card Production e-mail. However my lawyer received the Approval notices (wife and mine) first week of October.

For the past few months, there have been no green cards available for persons in the employment-based third preference category (EB-3) and long backlogs in the EB-2 category for persons born in India and China. So, with few green cards to grant, why has the USCIS been scheduling interviews for persons in these categories? The short answer is that just because the USCIS cannot grant most EB-3 and EB-2 applicants green cards, the agency can take advantage of the lull in applications for adjustment of status to deny persons with pending applications. How can they do that? Easy! Let's say...

South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has said many times in the past that the GOP needs to move back to the middle on immigration reform. He's putting his money where his mouth is and is leading the GOP's pro-immigration wing as they work behind the scenes shaping the bill likely to be introduced in the next few weeks. The support of at least half a dozen Republican Senators will be critical since there will no doubt be Democrats who don't vote with their party.

Hi friends,
I got my I-140 approval in premium processing. But unfortunately, USCIS printed the new labor filing date (2010) when the attorney requested my I-140 to capture the old priority date which is June2004. My law firm already contacted USCIS to issue a revised notice with the old priority date (June2004).
How long does USCIS take to issue a revised I-140? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Anything that we can do to expedite the release of the new I-140 notice with correct priority date?
Please let me know when you get a chance

If a H1B visa holder is in US, i know it is possible to transfer H1B to a different comapny in US. But can anyone help me understand if the same is possible if the person having the H1B visa is in india currently?

Using H1B visa, the person has worked in US for first 3 years. Now the person has applied for H1B extension and still the petition papers have not yet come. After applying extension the person has gone back to India. The person's current company is hesitating to send him back to US.

gcformeornot is correct. You cannot "transfer" an I-140 approval, but you can keep and use the PD for any subsequent I-140. Once a new LC is approved, a copy of the I-140 approval notice with the 10/2007 PD should be included in the new I-140 submission along with a request to use the old PD on the new I-140 approval notice.

I know lobbying takes money, but i am not sure how much we need.
I see lots of emails about funding going around, but i am not getting any idea of how much exactly is needed.
Can the admins post a funding drive! and set some target - say, "100000$ funding drive". If we have a target, we can pitch in money and try to meet that. If we fall short, we know how much we need more, so that people can make extra contributions.
Once again, this is just my random thoughts.

I finally got my BC from India, now my lawyer tells me that it should have Mothers maiden name, Is that right? I cannot find any info which says that.
Birth certificates formats are entirely local. In India each state; maybe even each district has its own format. Your lawyer may have seen some that has this information, or s/he simply does not believe you that what you got is the genuine one. In any case, USCIS does not (and cannot) require any specific format.

I came to US on a L1 Visa, changed jobs got a H1 visa but never left the country for the last 3 years so dont have a H1 stamping in my passport.
I will be getting my 7th year extension (probably 3 yrs based on my approved I-140) soon and i have to visit India atleast this year. With no hopes of 485 filing and absolutely no hopes for CIR i need to plan to get a Visa stamping in my passport.
With the Interview dates at US Embassy in Chennai already gone till December First week, do you know whether i can get my H1 stamping done in any of the Canadian Embassies?
Has anybody whose case is similar to mine got their stamping done in Canada? Advice me on any risks.
