Are you insane ? Just because we don't see what IV core/other members contribute behind the scenes, doesn't mean that we should change the IV core. I was a quite member for a while and saw, what IV was able to accomplish during the July 2007 fiasco.
Yeah , i can understand the frustration, we have not seen anything beyond the July 2007 filing. How many of you've taken out on the streets, went to your senator and congress.
We are such a minority in eyes of congress/senate, that they dont care about us.
If you've any better means to do something effective, by all means create some other organization. I don't necessarily agree with what IV pushes for all the time, but so what , they are doing something atleast.
Still, if you think you've an idea or something that can cause a real impact, share it here and i'm sure IV will accommodate you. I would be happy to see the end of this legal immigration red-tape and see the end of IV for a good cause. IV core are ppl just like us, if you want to devote more time, by all means ask IV and they will include you.

No This is a height of Cruelity from USCIS. They must have interpreted lot of phone calls and inquiries as "people might not have understood the revision" as they are not from "English Speaking" countries so change it and put "Flip" and "Flop" together as somebody mentioned ahead. If you look at the website you find a bunch of new threads related to 485 filing. Most of them bear answers in previous threads. People dont want to search..but that okay..they can form new threads if they are very desperate for the answers.
But at the same time due to the flood of these messages we are missing important notices and action items like this one.If we separate them somehow it will be helpful.
2. Lets have an organized tracking of 485s. Lets separate them by Visa category , country, PD or RD.
ex: Eb3 country: India
PD 2001: RD:...? LUD: ...?

..
Lets have an option of adding friends approx dates who are not immigration voice members. This way we can have rough estimate about what happening. Lets not make threads for each category.

I doubt it, uscis used up 60k visas in one month just to make sure we dont get any ead, why in the world after doing all this nonsense would they accept our applications.
Well...this is the same argument we gave when we first heard about the July VB rumour in june but no one belived. I hope badluck's lawyer brings us some good luck but this is hard to believe this time.

Maintaining GC is a big hassle you have to return every year (2years for the first time i think). Couple of Infosys blokes (with GC) that i know had discussed this with the company before joining and the company sent them within 2years on a short term projects to the US.
If you have a US citizenship then you can opt for a dual citizenship. That might help you get a job directly in India (dont know the rules, just guessing)

Marriage, kids, school, house, GC...Citizenship...it kinds of gets on you. And before you know, your kids are making the decision for you. I know of a couple of families with grown up kids who moved back to India only to move back to US because the "kids could not adjust". It's not hard to read between the lines that "we also could not adjust".
As days go by, it is becoming more clear everyday that I will also return back one day, sooner rather than later. I have some questions that haunt me:
- if/when I get my GC, and if I return back, is there a way to hold on to the GC status?
- if someone has a US citizenship, when companies such as Infosys hire them, do they have to get a work visa or something? Is there a concept equivalent of H1/GC for non Indians yet?

I had an email conversation with my lawyer regarding 180 day portability.
She said that the count for 180 days should begin with notice date for safe side.
However the count begins with Receipt Date which is a day or 2 off from the actual application receive date (mail received date).
